"Save the San Marcos Foothills"

Kashish Ali + no edits.jpg

I feel that in our growing world, we neglect our roots. The Chumash people tended the San Marcos Foothills for generations, yet this irreplaceable area faces demolition for the construction of a little more than a handful of houses. Though a gorgeous travel destination, the foothills represent more to the Chumash people, and to the plants and wildlife who reside there. I have a small platform, but I still want to help protect these lands, and the Earth, in every way I can.

Image Text: The San Marcos Foothills, one of the most biologically rich grasslands on the South Coast, faces demolition for the construction of eight (8) multimillion-dollar luxury homes. Battles over these foothills have steadily occurred over the last 20 years, however the high-end housing plans threatens the foothills further. In addition to being a home to over 200 plant species and over 250 species, this land has been home to the Chumash people for thousands of years. Yet, no barriers have been established in this project to ensure that Chumash burial sites remain undisturbed nor are they any Chumash monitors surveying the construction. Please save the foothills. Here are a few sites to understand and-or help the situation:
